Prof. Dr. Gökhan İnalhan (Uçak Mühendisliği)

Gokhan Inalhan received his B.Sc. degree in Aeronautics from Istanbul Technical University in 1997, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in Aeronautics and Astronautics from Stanford University, in 1998 and 2004 respectively. In 2003, he has received his Ph.D. Minor from Stanford University on Engineering Economics and Operations Research (currently Management Science and Engineering). Between 2004 and 2006 he had worked as a Postdoctoral associate at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.  During this period he had led the Communication and Navigation group in the MIT-Draper Laboratory NASA CER project. Currently, he is a Professor at Istanbul Technical University, Faculty of Aeronautics and Astronautics and serves as the Vice Chair of the Aeronautical Engineering Department.

Prof. Inalhan has published more than 100 papers, book chapters, technical reports and proceedings on flight controls and avionics systems, spacecraft design and controls, formation flight, design of manned aircraft and unmanned vehicles, air transportation management, large-scale optimization, advanced guidance, navigation and controls. He is the founder and the Director of the Controls and Avionics Laboratory of ITU.  The laboratory has designed and built the first student satellite from Turkey : ITU pSAT I. The Laboratory has been involved in numerous manned and unmanned aircraft research and industrial projects from institutes and companies such as European Commission, TUBITAK, BOEING, Turkish Airlines, ASELSAN and HAVELSAN. In addition the Laboratory is recipient of various Internation, TÜBİTAK and National awards for the undertaken projects. Prof. Inalhan is a senior member of AIAA and elected member of IEEE Technical Committee on Aerospace Controls and IFAC Transportation Systems Technical Committee. He is also a Eurocontrol Agency  Team (ART) member.

Prof. Gokhan Inalhan is a founder of the Air Transportation Management Program in ITU and he is currently appointed as an Advisor to ITU Rector on R&D, Technology and Innovation.

Dr. Nazim Kemal Ure obtained his B.Sc. degrees in Aeronautical Engineering and Astronautical Engineering (double major) from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) in 2008. He obtained his M.Sc. degree in Defense Technologies from ITU in 2010. During his studies at ITU he worked on developing motion planning and control algorithms for agile maneuvering aircraft. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in Aerospace Engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in 2015. At MIT he was the leading research assistant in projects funded by Boeing R&T and NASA, which involved developing planning algorithms and conducting hardware experiments for autonomous aerial and ground vehicles.

Dr. Ure has been working as an Assistant Professor in ITU Aeronautical Engineering department since 2015. He is currently affiliated with ITU Aerospace Research Center (ARC). His main research interests are decision making under uncertainty and learning for autonomous systems and development of high performance guidance navigation and control algorithms. He is the author of over 30 peer reviewed journal papers, book chapters and conference publications in these subjects. He has been involved in several projects supported by EC, BOEING, NASA, Turkish Airlines, ASELSAN and TUBITAK as the leading researcher and project manager.
